Welcome to Kev Gao’s personal website!
I obtained my Ph.D. in Business from the Rady School, UCSD, advised by Prof. Vish Krishnan. My research has focused on developing AI-driven new solutions to complex business and societal challenges. Methodologically, I design customized, domain-specific AI models and work to transform empirical (causal) social science research to be aware of AI and multi-modal data (high-dimensional, texts, vision, etc.) while maintaining rigor. My domain areas of interest include innovation and entrepreneurship, product management in the cloud-native and AI age, social institutions, and societal issues in general.
I combine both expertise in business/economics and computer science/AI. I co-author with both business/management scholars and computer scientists. My teaching experience ranges from information systems and operations management core courses, product management and innovation strategies, to big data engineering and AI/NLP.
Personally, I am a computing hardware enthusiast, an amateur chef, (sort of) a railway fan (電車オタク), and a car guy (wannabe).
